Teacher/Astronaut Barbara Morgan Adds New Meaning to Higher Education.
Teacher and astronaut, Barbara Morgan, conducts first class in space.
Teacher Barbara Morgan transformed the space shuttle and space station into a classroom on August 14th for her first education session from orbit, fulfilling the legacy of Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher/astronaut, who was aboard the doomed 1986 Challenger flight.
When Morgan gave her first education session on August 14th, 2007, students from schools accross the US and the world were able to listen as Barbara and the other astronaut crew members answered questions from elementary school students at the end of the class - the students' questions were delivered and broadcast by satellite link.
