Will Fundraising Help?

All the fundraising in the world can't help some schools. The small Arkansas community of Bald Knob is seeing that first hand and hoping that their efforts will thwart the closing or annexation of their district schools.

Due to the inability of the school district to pay back loans that helped finance the new high school and gymnasium, considered the crown jewels of White County district, the Arkansas Department of Education, in August, gave them 30 days to raise $800,000 or have their school district annexed. But the district really needs to raise closer to $2 million in order to keep the doors open and the name Bald Knob on the buildings.

The community isn't going down without a fight. They have come together to save their schools with the S.O.S. (Save Our School) campaign and have raised over $680,000 to date thanks to community donations, both from individuals and businesses. They are holding a multitude of fundraisers including a $100 a plate dinner catered by a local restaurant, auctions and raffles for lots of donated items. They hope to raise around $500,000 more on September 18th when a vote on a bond issue will be held. They have until September 24th to come up with the rest.

BigDaddy.com sends our best wishes to the 3,500 residents (1,500 students) of Bald Knob and our hopes that you reach your goals and can continue sending your children to the schools in your district.

And we'll be here for you in the future should you decide to participate in the BigDaddy.com School Sponsorship Program to help raise funds for your schools.

Limited Funds… Unlimited Heart…

I was surfing the web today and stumbled upon a post from a teacher named Mrs. Crofut, that has touched my heart and left a lasting impression on me. I know now that the BigDaddy.com School Sponsorship Program WILL exceed all of our wildest expectations, as long as there are people who see things like this and take ACTION!

Here is an excerpt with a link to the Mrs. Crofut's blog.

"We certainly aren't up to what is seen in large, inner-city schools, but it is the toughest part of Rapid City, SD. Most of my kids come to school with a great deal of baggage. I think our teachers are the hardest working middle school teachers in the city. We try to take care of students needs before we can even think about curriculum. Our school serves breakfast for the early drop-offs and has an after-school program that runs until 5:30 for those that have nowhere to go after our 3:02 bell. We have an Eagle Closet, which would be like a thrift store except it is free for our families. We have a parole officer that comes to our school several times a week to meet with her kids. We have a liaison officer that is kept far too busy. We have a food backpack program that sends students home on Friday with a backpack full of groceries to get students through the weekend. We have just set up a new fundraising committee that teachers are volunteering on to raise money for so many of the other items our students need. And with all of this said, let me assure you, there is NO other school I would rather work at. Even with all the issues they have, my kids are just kids. They need an education and they need someone to care about them. I never leave the school on any day when I don't know with absolute certainty that I touched the life of a child. There is nothing that can give more purpose to my life."

Read the rest of Mrs. Crofut's Blog post here.

I am positive that we have many teachers just like Mrs. Crofut that WANT to help but are limited by dwindling budgets, increased operating costs and enrollment numbers that have gone through the roof in many school districts.

BidDaddy.com can help! With the BigDaddy.com School Sponsorship Program, you can sponsor a school YOU want to support. Your sponsorship will ensure the school's enrollment in the program.

We will send the school a welcome packet and a check for $25.00 to kick off the BigDaddy.com, year-long, unique fundraising campaign where students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff and other supporters make it a HABIT to use SearchBigDaddy.com for all their global Internet searching and Local.SearchBigDaddy.com when looking for products and services in their own community.

Supporters earn Advantage Points (APs) that they can donate to their school or trade in for some great rewards like discounts on travel, hotels, electronics, movie tickets and more. At the same time, Search Big Daddy will give an equal number of Advantage Points to the school you are supporting and when the school earns 100,000 APs they can turn them in for REAL COLD, HARD CASH.

There is no other program like this and it is easy to get involved. Just pick a school you wish to sponsor here. By the way, the school that Mrs. Crofut teaches at is North Middle School in Rapid City, SD and they need a sponsor.
